Life on Amelia Island Florida is much like a visit to a small town, where everyone knows one another, and they don’t run on schedule. There is another side to life on Amelia Island, the big resorts. I got just a taste of resort life with a day visit to the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island.

About the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island

This luxury resort sits on 13 miles of spectacular coastline. There are 500 rooms made up of standard rooms and deluxe suites. The hotel has four restaurants, a lobby bar, a spa and 24-hour fitness centre.

Life at the Ritz-Carlton mimics life on the island, relax, enjoy the water and do it in your own time.

Oceanfront Ritz-Carlton Suite

It’s a luxury condo overlooking the sand dunes and ocean in a sprawling suite complete with living room, master bedroom and bath and even a little kitchen.

Just walking into the space I felt super relaxed. There was plenty of space with over 2000 sq ft (224 sqm) to spread out and rest and recharge.

The large spacious master bathroom included a deep soaker tub and of course luxurious Asprey toiletries.

Restaurants at the Ritz Carlton Resort

Coast Restaurant

We had lunch at the casual dining restaurant Coast. The menu had plenty of healthy options to choose from including this head of lettuce salad with grilled shrimp.

There are four restaurants at the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island to hang out at including the Ocean Bar & Grill, The Pub, The Lobby Bar and Salt their fine dining restaurant.

Salt (Fine Dining)

I know the next time I visit the island I’m going to try and snag a table at Salt restaurant for dinner. This fine dining experience features a menu dedicated to the best of the ocean and life on land. Using over 40 different salt flavours and with a menu that changes with the seasons, I have added this to my must eat at restaurants.

If you are lucky, you may even be able to snag a spot at the chef’s table which overlooks all the action in the Salt kitchen.

Ritz Carlton Amelia Island Beach

Three long wooden boardwalks take you over the sand dunes and onto the beach area. The wide beach is very spread out so you don’t have to be sitting on top of others, but you will have to walk along those boardwalks to get to it.

There are also two pools one indoor and one outdoor at the resort. These were super busy during our day trip which surprised me as I would be making that walk to the beach. For those that want a quieter pool, there is a Spa pool available to patrons of the spa or those with rooms that include the spa common spaces in their rates.

Spa at the Ritz

I still can not believe how big the Spa at the Ritz-Carlton was, but I confirmed, and it is spread out over 27,500 sq ft. There are 27 treatment rooms, a fitness centre and a private spa pool.

Some of the more popular treatments at the Spa include a Honey Butter Wrap, Heaven in a Hammock and a MorroccanOil Scalp Treatment.

November Amelia Island Wellness Festival

For the second year, The Ritz Carlton will be host to the 2018 Amelia Island Wellness Festival. The weekend-long festival will run from November 9 – 11 featuring some speakers dedicated to inspiring health and wellness through a series of holistic programming.

This festival features programs for everyone of all levels looking to research holistic practices, yoga and meditation experiences.
